I feel Adam Silver is doing a poor job of being the big boss for the NBA.
It's becoming more and more of a players league and I can't see owners willing to keep paying these salaries.. there's no way they're making enough money to cover this, no?
I could be out to lunch on this but it's becoming way too player-driven (which isn't a bad thing except when half the "stars" act like divas and self-entitled princesses).

Player salaries are locked as a percentage of league income, so their salaries just reflect how much frickin' money the owners are making. As evinced by how the price tag to buy a team keeps soaring. The owners are doing better than ever. I think a lot of the latest player-league contract was about the general issue of player entitlement. Minimums for games played during the season. Lots of new restrictions on salaries (to make whining your way out of town a lot harder).

Harden is opting into his 1 year left on his contract with the thought of working out a trade. Who the hell actually wants this guy? He's forced his way out of the last three teams he's been on and generally performs nowhere near the money he's asking for and is on his way down. Good luck.

Would be pretty funny if they traded for Harden, re-signed Westbrook, and then tried to run back that Harden/Westbrook backcourt for the third time even though they've never won anything together and they're older and suckier now. Clippers probably have enough depth guys to salary match that Philly might be interested in, if they gave up two or three out of Powell, Marcus Morris, Convington and Batum.

Philly is trying to win a title, do they need any of those guys to get them there? I think they'd do better with Herro plus other stuff so they still have scoring and creation. Add in Lowry and some salary filler from Philly side and it makes some sense. If the Heat go through with it Dame will be the biggest loser since that's really who he was hoping he can move to.

I hadn't heard Herro was in play. I have no idea why Miami would do that honestly since to me Herro is basically already as good as Harden while being 10 years younger (less assists obviously but the rest of his game stacks up, and he's still potentially improving while Harden is declining). But yeah if an offer like that is on the table that would be a lot better. I just thought this trade might end up looking more like when the Wizards got Porzingis for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans.

This went on way too long, real dick move on his part to wait until they are forced to use big money on a terrible deal then ask out. It's been a day, he knew this was the outcome or he would have given longer time so this is just being a dick.
I for the record want nothing to do with him. This is only for teams ready to win in these next 2 or 3 years followed by being terrible for the end of Dame's contract. Whatever team gets Dame, I want their pick in the final year of his contract.

So when did these "bold new trade (proposal)" stories become such a thing? And are people really writing them, or are they just AI clickbait? Because they're all nearly identical and all dumb as hell. Sure, I'm hungry to read basketball stories during the boring summer as anyone, but these fake trades are way too much.

Jrue goes to Boston. The East is now looking like a 2 team race. Robert Williams is quite the cost though, he was definitely a key part of their team defense that has been completely moved to Porzingus. If he can fit in and play well they will certainly be a force. That starting lineup is fierce defensively.

Which makes the Raps moves more puzzling.
We're not beefing up, but we're not selling. We're just staying put.

So seems like Philly is worse, not just Harden gone but PJ moved as well and they bring back washed expiring contracts but a bunch of picks. I believe Morey is looking to make a second trade with those picks, and if the Raptors continue to not look so great, well then Siakam could be a nice piece for some of those picks.
