I'd still probably trade Siakam straight up for Brown. We need a top flight guard that badly. There's such little roster balance that I can't really disagree with you. However he still can't dribble or pass - he has an abysmal 1:1 AST/TO ratio

I could see Miami mucking up the game enough to steal one. Especially the first game, after Denver’s long break. But hard to see more than that. 4-1 Denver. I see game 1 going the other way. I always mean heavily towards rest against rust.

“Could see”, not “think it’s likely.” But Jokic is so smart, I see him getting stronger as the series goes on. Denver is just going to get harder.
Or Denver takes the first three, then relaxes for game 4, before winning at home. Gentleman’s sweep.

Silver let it slide the first time. Gave Morant an easy time and now looks stupid for doing it. Should have cited the past and told Morant about Arenas and Crittenton. Silver is gonna drop the hammer this time and on any player who has a gun related infraction in the future. Players who have and like guns should bury them. There are other ways to have fun that don't have multi million dollar suspensions as an added attraction.

Go to a legal shooting range with their guns for example, and don't flaunt any in public. It's really crazy how quick he fucked up and his dumb friends showing it all live. Like why do you need to be live dancing around when you know a gun is there.
I imagine half the season at a minimum is the suspension.

Denver dominating, heat never had a chance playing on the road in Denver with that altitude after a hard 7 have series and no rest while Denver had a bunch. I bet a bunch on Denver winning and winning by a lot and a lot of bets look good right now.

So, with 3:37 left in the 3rd quarter, Lowry ended up defending Jokic *deep* in the post. And he fouled the big guy, but still, just watching the malignant fire hydrant dig in and stop Jokic from advancing, it make me smile.
And a play or two later, he wrestled with Gordon, in a similarly satisfying manner.
God, I miss Lowry sometimes. My favorite Raptor.

I too love Lowry however I am cheering for the Nuggets. I hate Pat Riley more than I like Lowry.

Jokic is a basketball god, and Murray is excellent too. Heat mostly just junk things up. So I’m rooting for Denver too. … But those moments when you glimpse Classic Lowry are pretty sweet.
Btw, how amazing is it that the East has sent five different teams to the Finals over the past six years? And the West has sent four? That’s more parity then I’ve seen since I started watching basketball.

KD Warriors was an anomaly and the CBA is working as intended... until the new one kicks in and destroys its middle-class, from the sounds of it.

Damn. Lowry on Jokic in the close of game 5. Just some amazing defense (even if he fouled Jokic a bunch).

And Denver wins. Very happy for Jokic. Great for the NBA, too, to have players like him seen as the pinacle of the sport.
As I said the other day, what a time for parity... Five different champions in five years. I wonder how long that will last, or if another dominant team is on the rise somewhere...

I just went back to re-watch the first half, with a focus on Lowry ... and wow, was he even better than I thought. Plus-17 without scoring a single point, at one point. Just patrolling the paint, like Draymond Greene or some kind of diminutive center (or a malicious fire hydrant). So much fun to watch.

Also ... assuming the Raptors aren't in the finals next year ... who would love to see a Giannis-Jokic showdown? Best two big men in the NBA, going head-to-head. Assuming both are healthy. That would be awesome.

He was a little sketchy through the earlier rounds but Lowry was pretty good in finals, one of the Heats better performers. I think some of their less experienced guys failed them in the finals. I'm kinda disappointed because i was hoping the Heat would buy Lowry out and we could bring him back for a year. He's in serious decline but as a part time player he might still have something left in a Raptor uniform.
Now I think he hangs with the Heat one more year and then retires.

Bradley Beal is going to Phoenix apparently but no news on who is going back. For their sake I hope it is Chris Paul, I'm guessing Washington would be better with Ayton.

Seems pretty low for Wash. I get the NTC and all but still, you can't get a 1st out of this?
Also, Ayton has to be gone now? That team has no cap.

Sounds like Phoenix had no 1st to offer, literally can't right now until after the draft. I really hope they manage Ayton for like 3 rotation players or good luck this year. They are going to get smashed in depth and basically can only sign minimum contracts.

Seems pretty low for Wash. I get the NTC and all but still, you can't get a 1st out of this? Apart from the point that the Suns already gave away their firsts in the Durant deal--I mean, there are other teams out there with firsts--I read an article that suggested that because of the 'no trade' clause in Beal's contract, he was effectively able to veto any trade scenarios which would prevent too much going to back to Washington, as this would cause his new team to be too depleted. This meant Washington effectively had to trade an All-Star level talent for peanuts. In a way, Washington was held hostage and unable to start their rebuild unless they capitulated. With this cautionary tale, we probably won't see another "No Trade" clause for a good long while. I didn't appreciate how awful they are.

I am pretty happy Beal managed to screw over both teams with this move. Because I don't think another high-usage jumpshooter really helps the Suns very much.

True dat.
If you're the Suns though, I'm not sure how you can say no to Beal at that price.
They already mortgaged their future going for Durant, so they might as well put the rest of their chips in. What if Beal finds new life as a third option quality floor spacer?
Maybe they can get some ring chasers to provide the depth.

New owner syndrome hard. Looks like they don't give a fuck about the second apron huge penalties and just want to spend everything to go for it now.

I know Washington was limited by the no trade clause but I'm a little shocked that the best they can get is a 38 year old PG who they'll have to trade for cheap or buy out, some pick swaps (which will most likely go unused), and a bunch of 2nd rounders. They already traded away a recent young lottery pick Rui Hachimura for three 2nds. Maybe they'll have a stacked G-league team but I can't imagine they'll ever have enough roster space on the main team to develop so many 2nds. Next domino to fall is probably trading away Porzingis because he has a lot of wear and tear already even though he's only 27, and probably wouldn't fit into their future window 2-3 years from now if everything went right, which it won't.

I'm a little shocked the Celtics were able to get Porzingis and 2 late firsts for Marcus Smart and an early 2nd. I guess they maybe got more compensation because Porzingis is only on a player option next year and not locked in long term. But I feel like this move is going to be like when the Raptors got Ibaka and he was no longer asked to be a star on a bad team, and was allowed to be just be a swiss army knife on a contender. And Marcus Smart feels to me like he's going to become a slightly better Pat Beverley type player into his 30s, a solid role player but not somebody I'd be giving up a ton of assets to acquire.

Washington killed it. They were completely hamstrung by a no trade clause and to get swaps in 28 and 30 when Phoenix will likely be awful is stellar.
Washington has made some really nice moves including the one above.
