Oh that is true, but the way he hung Goins out to dry after is another matter entirely - I wasn't aware he had when I wrote that post yesterday. Russell Martin must be exhaling that Game 5 worked out how it did seeing that. Steve Simmons wrote a great piece on him yesterday, check that out. Among other things, said he may be the most hated player in the game within the game - and Jonathan Papelbon exists! Yeah, surprised that point hasn't come up more than it has, but in some ways, I think I'd rather get three straight at home, especially down 2-0.

What a buzzsaw the Mets busted out on the Cubs. That pitching is incredible. Wow.

That they are. And being managed at a whole other level, too. It's becoming really (even reall-ier?) apparent that is a major issue for the club. Does anyone seriously think that Price would come back to play for the Jays if Gibby was managing? Not in a million years. The Jays are probably not going to pony up the cash for Price anyway, but that's really immaterial when he wouldn't come back anyway. I shrugged off Gibby's occasional gaffe during the season because it was easy to do so when the Jays were crushing teams regularly. I can't overlook it when it's put the team behind the eight ball in two successive playoff series. The Royals have been really good, and maybe the Jays would still be behind even with a better manager at the helm, but I feel comfortable saying I think the picture would look significantly different.

I think managing in the regular season is largely overrated - most will say it makes a max of 3-5 games difference from shit to great. But in this spot with Price, I thought from the get go there was no chance he stayed in Toronto for reasons I've said repeatedly of TO in general, and specific to his situation in particular (now more then ever...think he contemplates how Maddon would treat him in Cubs gear? He'd have never been hung out like this). Royals have been freaking awesome. Suspect Price takes it to 7 tomorrow but the Royals ultimately win with the way they spray balls around the outfield, and a Joey Not Glove gaffe is the difference. What I can't figure out is why Price is being viewed so negatively while Stroman, who hasn't exactly been better, is given so much rope by fans/management/media? At least these two admit it...

Tough way to go out. Gotta get a guy on third with no outs home. Gibby and the pen proved to be the pitfalls.
Still was a hell of ride. And Jose Bautista. Wow. Welcome to the level of excellence. Sucks the season ended with him on deck. Dude is as clutch as it gets.

Well, I did call the spray one in the OF and Joey No Glove is the difference, didn't I? But hey, he gets on the Level of Excrement, allegedly, so there is that.

If you can't call that great baseball MK, you must not have been watching which renders your claptrap null & void.

It was great, the result particularly. But sometimes, you need to credit the process, too. This is an incredible read into how the Royals figured out Price was tipping pitches, and knew that if a ball went to Jose's left, he'd throw to the wrong place which they worked on the deciding run. Amazing scouting that lead to key wins. Seldom has a prediction been more satisfying...

WHAT A GAME LAST NIGHT!!! Incredible. More on the Royals scouting. They had a guy follow Toronto for 40 days which makes him like 95% of Jays "fans" this year. He/they figured out some stuff on the Jays batters. Clearly.

Loads of love there! Wondering, however, if they lamely hung a divisional winner banner in the process?

So the Jays extended a QO to Marco, which they can do for all of their free agents.
If the QO is $15mil across the board, why wouldn't they also extend it to Price, or am I not understanding the rule fully? The contract itself can be worth more than $15million, but if another team signs the player the Jays gets a first round pick, correct?

I believe Price had to have played an entire season with the Jays to get a QO.

It's not at the level of the Yanks/Sox but it's far from terrible. Storen/Osuna/Cecil/Sanchez is a solid group of 4.

I may have mentioned a time or thousand that he's an asshole. Me? I hope they give him the $150 million he wants. Badly.
Also: if he gets $150 million from anyone as he's going to age 36, I'll publicly eat a bag of shit. What a fucking idiot he is. And before certain types chime in - if he signs with the Yanks (zero chance), I'lll scrape my Yankees tattoo off with a cheese grater.

Forgot you guys don't talk baseball until you're in first for the most part.
Jays going to keep that AL East banner or was that a temporary thing? Wondering, as I don't recall too many other teams raising divisional championship banner when there are 6 of them to be had. Actually, they'll likely raise it again. Daily for the next couple decades, give or take.
Loser Jays fan crying that the roof being closed for Opening Day is a conspiracy yet? That was fun back in October. Maybe there's a petition going around?
I've seen about 8 innings of Jays action this spring (guess vs. who?) and Joey Not Glove is looking in mid-season form. Truly the stuff worth $150 million or more. Give it to him. Begging. The way Donaldson cracked him over his selfie on the weekend while not playing was nice. Respect, JD.
I do not miss Alex Anthopolous and his pubescent voice grabbing spotlight daily. Refreshing even. Best change of the off-season. Next up: kill Suck and Pat.
The Jays figure out yet that their hats this spring aren't the same shade of blue as their unis? Nah.

Bautista can eat a big bag of dicks as far as I'm concerned. Let him play with a big ol' chip on his shoulder and trade his arrogant ass as soon as he puts together a nice stretch of ball. Done and done. The important thing about the hats is that they match Cleveland's uni's, obviously. We can always talk about the Yanks bullpen for the ages if you like. It'll save us talking about the mixed bag of old timers they're rolling out in other areas. Miller, Betances, and Chapman though? Jesus Murphy. It's not even fair.
