The Jays' recent run has been fueled by ungodly good pitching, but two out of the last three nights they've gotten pounded. We all know they're going to come back to earth, but it will be interesting to see just how far down "earth" for them is.

Really anxious to hear what MK is thinking right now, with the Jays up 9-2 in the 5th.

At the time, I'm guessing it went "holy hell am I smashed and is it EVER hot in Las Vegas".

Close! Looking at starting a cidery. Sweet. The sidreria I went to in Bilbao a few years back was one of the most fun restaurants ever. Are you going to have the giant vats shooting streams of cider like the ones in northern Spain? (No idea if they do the same in Normandy).

Are you going to have the giant vats shooting streams of cider like the ones in northern Spain? (No idea if they do the same in Normandy). Probably not, although that is extremely cool. My plan is to only use oak for ice cider (with about 25% or so being new French oak, to support the apple-y notes with baking spice and vanilla notes from the woods as well as nutty oxydative notes) and perhaps sparkling ciders if I declare a vintage (in those really sunny years when the sugar content gets high enough). The problem with cider is that due to its low alcohol content, it's a very volatile product: they don't like oxygen at all, and any sort of uncleanness can turn an entire batch into vinegar very, very quickly. Of course, wood's a bit porous and does allow some slow absorption of oxygen, so it can create problems there. But in those years when sugar is a tad higher, I'd like to ferment it in oak and have it undergo malolactic transformation as well. That's a tad risky because it does drive the titrable acidity down (as the malic acid is transformed into lactic acid), but it does create buttery, yeasty and meaty notes as well. Other than that, from the standpoint of both protecting the product from loss due to bacteria and creating that reductive, fruit-forward character that our market seems to enjoy, I'll be primarily using stainless steel. Which also happens to be cheaper, as well as safer. Cooperage costs a fortune. I know Spain has an extensive cider tradition (as does Basque country in southwestern France), but I've never tried one from there. What are they like?

Possible topic: the utter shock of Tulowitzki being hurt.

Well, atleast they diagnosed it right the first time instead of calling it just a bone bruise.

Yes, if we know there's one thing the Jays training staff is good at, it is diagnosing injury promptly and accurately.

I'm loving the Stro' Show right now. I was wincing when I heard he was coming back form his ACL this season, but he proved he's good enough to go! From what I've heard he killed the rehab. Amazing work ethic.

The last 3-4 series' against the Yanks have been so tense and some great ball games played by both teams. The series win was huge for the Jays.

Hope MK enjoyed that LOL. What a game. Not only have the Jays surpassed the Yanks in the standings, but no doubt Toronto has surpassed New York for ballpark experience. What a crowd!

If you rate shitbags lobbing CANS of beer at people (and plunking at least one kid instead who fittingly wore Jays gear) who would dare wear opposing teams gear, then Rogers Centre is the place for you. Literally the worst fans I've seen in any sporting environment, and I've been in a few. Be proud, when two months ago half the sized crowd would be there. Bandwagon cunts. The only area Jays Fan excels "in game" is reacting like every ball hit is leaving the planet. The dumbest fans in sports, by far. And I think I know their spiritual leader.
If the Jays plane went down on their next roadie, I'd only be disappointed it didn't land in that piece of shit stadium with the clueless fans and staff.
That about sum it up, BorisD?
It's cute though that whatshislatestlame thinks of me in the wee hours. Can guarantee I don't think of him. Kinda like the Jays when it comes to being irrelevant for 22 years running.

Yeah, that is absolutely inexcusable. (More so was the cops' conduct, but that was left unstated.) I can say that it does not represent all Jays' fans, though, or anything more than a miniscule percentage of them. So wishing death on an entire team based on a few morons in the crowd is a tad unfair. After all, if we could all do that, pretty much every professional soccer club would all be crashed in the mountains, feasting on each other for survival. And, to be fair, it's not like vocal Jays' fans have fared better in the confines of Yankee Stadium over the years themselves. There's a reason it's known as "the Bronx zoo".
