I kind of like this move for the Wizards. Westbrook is fool's gold for a team with actual championship aspirations but he could be fun to watch on a young team surrounded by elite 3 point shooters like Bertans and Beal.

I'd like to understand why Westbrook asked to be traded? Was so he could become a Wizard??? This is an improvement over Houston? All parties involved should be embarrassed.

I know there are some guys where it can be otherwise, bit that supermax contact will 99 percent of the time be an albatross deal. There's maybe 5 people worth it and everyone else will eat too much cap space to fill the team proper and not do enough required of that number. Giannis will be worth it.

I believe Westbrook found out harden was going to ask for a trade... Might have done so already privately, and Westbrook didn't want to be left there with the scraps so he went out public first.

Can anybody explain how Wall is a better fit next to Harden? Like why do this trade at all? If you're going to trade Harden than you keep Westbrook who is a better player (that we know of) and whatever pieces you get you can field something. Unless they are actually going for worse as part of a tank. This team is going to be the new Knicks barring some miracle, they will be terrible without much hope to get better and no one will want to go play there unless they massively overpay.

The thing about going full tank already is the Thunder have the rights to swap 1st round this year, so if Houston trades everyone away and are terrible they won’t get to use their own lottery pick. Thunder also have 2024 and 2026 picks (only top-4 protected) and another potential pick swap in 2025. It’s insane they wasted so much draft capital to get Westbrook and now they’re basically giving him away for nothing.

They also certainly learned NOTHING from that trade as well. CP3 left and was immediately valued higher and they learned they not only lost the trade they got destroyed. You have someone who demands so much offensively and requires the other players to concede so much of their play, all his teammates just look worst. Westbrook is going to up his value again and with a shorter contract left someone will take a chance on him and end up using assets to get him. I can only hope now that Harden gets traded to a bad team because for someone who rips apart a franchise like this all for him and then demand a trade, i only want the worst for the rest of his career...also i hate watching him play.

That my number one beef with Harden. Never has any player relied more on the kindness of officials than Harden. Then it doesn't work in the playoffs because the officials don't give him the same calls as during the season. His entire game highlights the worst thing about the NBA. The referees inconsistent enforcing of the rules. Most of the time we can shut our eyes to it and pretend it all evens out, but not when Harden is on the court.

Agreed entirely. I understand exaggerating contact a bit, that's everywhere and as you said we can look by it, but he invents and dives on everything around him that he's impossible to even get close to. If you touch him with any part of your body than it will look like that part briefly inherited superman's powers. If you are able to stay away and not touch him then he initiates contact and you still get called. Trouble is the league follows suit too, when someone exploits the rules they get an unfair advantage and now everyone else needs to do it to or their lives become harder in trying to keep up. The whole league suffers by allowing this to happen.

Apparently there is word that Westbrook didn't show up for camp and this is why he ended up getting traded like that.
