Quick Google on him, Bleacher report has him at 18 so a good value there. He seems to have high level skill without the athleticism. Sounds like he was a massive piece for San Diego and had the ball in his hands 90 percent of the time. Was a scorer at his first school and turned into what some are calling the best pick and roll in the draft. Looks like a pretty good talent, while most teams are looking at athleticism and length they go for outright skill (I would like the talent to be longer though lol).

Bogdan just cancelled the idea of a sign and trade. No longer going to the Bucks. I was listening to a podcast that talks about this trade and they quickly note on how this can possibly happen now when signing isn't open yet. Since it was canceled it makes me wonder if this is actually just a facade to cancel the trade and not get called on any tampering rules. This trade might come back tomorrow when signings are legal.

Klay Thompson out for the year again following an Achilles torn on his other leg. So brutal, really sorry for that guy.

Oubre apparently already getting traded to Golden State to replace Klay. I like a lot of Thunder's offseason moves but I wonder what Golden State can send them that's actually worth giving up a decent young player like Oubre. It's great to have draft picks but at some point if you have a dozen 1st rounders and no established talent you can end up not actually maximizing the potential of any of those picks because they never learn how to win.

I agree with you, I was thinking that they would just wait until one of the picks brings them a stud and then start the build around process but they have Shea who is a damn good player and they are going to start the process of ruining him these next couple years.

Apparently there are a lot of teams upset with how that went down so the league had to send a reminder about anti tampering. That they are launching a tampering investigation is not surprising. Apparently a team needs to ask and pay for it so I guess someone did that because it's been blatant tampering. Bogdan for sure lied about not even agreeing in an attempt to say not tampering. I'm sure one of Miami, Dallas or Toronto filed the complaint.
EDIT: Also should note the trade idea in itself was straight up illegal, in that they needed to sign and trade before the could sign, and one of the guys going to the Kings (Ersan) was partially guaranteed money to be dropped after acquired to not be on the hook, except he becomes guaranteed once FA opens. In other words it obviously doesn't work as a legal trade. Not a good look for either teams management that they did not realize this stuff.

Gasol and the Lakers are linked after Howard left them. I'm glad that he's going to a decent team.
And with some of the signings in the East, it looks like its going to be an interesting year.

Something gotta fall apart forthe Bucks, it seems too good to be true. After Bogdanovic claiming he's not doing the sign and trade and NBA investigating the move for tampering, this is starting to feel prophetic

Gordon Hayward signs for 4 years/120 mil with the Hornets, fulfilling his destiny of becoming Chandler Parsons 2.0: injury-prone, overpaid, and will be over the hill when his young teammates finally start to improve

^ agreed, however right now he's probably still an above average player and that the Celtics lost him and got nothing for him is good. Philly improved, Nets improved, Celtics are probably closer to the same but a little limited now going forward. Bucks are probably better just because they lost Bledsoe but they are nowhere near what they could have been had they finished that sign and trade and then had the mle to sign more players. Still feel like the current Raptors are figuring for 4 or 5 in the East which also means hopefully getting out of the first round.

Hayward must have the best agent in the NBA. Sure I like him as a player but can anyone list his real accomplishments? I thought the Celtics overpayed him when they got him from Utah. Now having gone through a serious injury and several years older he is still worth building around???
Shouldn't the Hornets have learned from the badly miscalculated Batum contract? Batum was in many ways a Hayward type player before Hayward was even in the league.

Funny they had to stretch their Batum mistake in order to make the Hayward one. Clearly not learning.

Seems like the Raps are going to wait this year out. I'm not surprised. I think the Tampa situation really hurts the attractiveness of the Raps for this season. Hopefully they can scoop some cream from the scrap heap. Im actually hoping RHJ will come back. He might have been useless in the playoffs but during the season he filled a lot of gaps.

I thought Hayward was insane to turn down 30+ million player option but I guess the market proved him right on that one. I guess I feel lucky the Hornets drafted LaMelo Ball because if they had drafted a non-PG, they might have been throwing insane money like that at FVV just to prove they were doing something with their cap space. I feel like FVV and Hayward are roughly equivalent talents, except FVV is younger, has less injury concerns, and more of a proven track record the past two seasons as a playoff performer.

I'm hoping the Raps can take a few high-risk high-reward type of players. Either go for another undrafted college guy, some Euro signing or some bottom of the barrel NBA signing. Seems like this year might be the chance to see if we can land another TD or Anthony Parker/Garbajosa type of player.

I don't know if I've become warped by the anti-C bias in modern NBA. But it strikes me as incredibly stupid for the Pelicans to trade a 1st and two 2nd round picks for Steven Adams and sign him to a 2 year/35 mil extension. When Rockets went small against the Thunder, Adams was too slow to guard smaller players and too limited offensively to capitalize on being matched up agains a smaller player. At least with other traditional Cs like Capela they can capitalize offensively against a smaller guy. Adams is a decent C if you need to stop someone like Embiid but not worth the picks and the big contract to me.

I agree entirely, i didn't understand the trade up front and I understand it even less that they extended him before playing a game and seeing the fit. I'm lost about the Pelicans as a whole to be honest. They have one of the best rim attackers in the league that has ok shooting and surrounded him by players that can't shoot and will clog the lane. Whatever number they are being given for over/under I'll be looking at that under, this is not going to be a good team.

Their current lineup projects as Bledsoe, Ball, Ingram, Zion and Steven Adams, with a bench of JJ Reddick, Josh Hart, and Jaxson Hayes. They drafted Jaxson Hayes 8th overall; if they're going to start an energy guy at C with limited shooting range, why not see if you can develop him for much cheaper? I guess they might bring one of Ball or Bledsoe off the bench and start million year old JJ Redick for improved shooting in the starting lineup. But even if this team vastly outpaces their expectations they're cashing in all their assets to become at best an 8th seed treadmill team in the West rather than actually building something sustainable while they still have good young players on their 1st contracts.

I can't tell if the Hawks are going to be frisky this year or if they're going to be like the year we started Calderon-DeRozan-Turkoglu-Bosh-Bargnani and couldn't guard a thing. After signing Bogdanovic and Gallinari, they're liking going to start Trae Young/Bogdanovic/Gallinari/John Collins/Capela with a bench of Rondo, Kris Dunn, Kevin Huerter, Cam Reddish, and their 1st rounder C Okungwu. I'm glad they're going to have some competition at swing positions now rather than just handing starting minutes automatically to Cam Reddish, who was awful last year.

Both teams you're talking about sutureself to me are falling for the same problem, they demanded immediate improvement to try to fight for the playoffs and are forgoing long term success for short term. Too often it is GMs looking to keep their job rather than do it right for years. Ball, Ingram might be ok next to Zion but taking Bledsoe back to get some draft picks that could be worth very little seems like a weird choice since he has a couple years left and no one wants him. Better off that you develop the good young players than just being a shitty contract holder at this point. You got your star now focus on improving him and the other youth around him for now and only take players that fit beside him.

I think Hawks roster is looking a lot better than the Pelicans roster but I was also extremely wrong about the Hawks last year and thought they were a lock for 33+ wins, which you warned me would never happen, so you're probably right again

I think the Hawks will improve this year and likely make the playoffs, they actually look decent right now. My main thought is that they rushed to try to improve now and grab everything they can because they have cap space and now they are just going to be this team for the most part from here. They could make some moves in trades but more of less have cut themselves off from any further FA signings and any good drafts for the forseeable future. Regular season wins will go up but team impact will be minimal i think. They also have almost zero defense except for Kris Dunn, and no 2 way players. Basically they build a regular season team and not a playoff team and now one i think will be very much on the treadmill. Really fun offensively that can win them a bunch of games, maybe go over 0.500 this year, but struggle to take another step.
Gallo for 3 years and Bogdan for 4 means that by the time Trae's impending max contracts start is when both guys are still on the team and will essentially have no cap space.

Reports were that Bogdan was Giannis' choice of complementary player to bring to the Bucks, and with the trade falling through there's less of a chance that he'll be signing the supermax. Bucks' Execs screwed the pooch big time!

Ya it read even more than that too. The management basically got caught in a bidding war for Jrue in the moment and used Bledsoe in that trade when he was the right person for salaries to match in the other one, plus they traded all their picks basically which should have been saved and used for Bogdan. Apparently there's word that they were then acting smug after they lined up the deal for Bogdan too to other teams that Giannis will sign now. Other teams who are smarter and can not act all excited until everything is done officially then went and reported that what they did was illegal. Bogdan then couldn't sign a contract anymore because it it doesn't work out, which it almost for sure wouldn't, then his contact would be cancelled and he would have to stay in Sacramento with no leverage to get a good deal since no one has any left. Really incredibly stupid at the most important time to show that you're smart. If they just focused on bodgan it was case closed to him signing by the sounds of it. Giannis was basically tampering him all summer trying to get him and then he does and his team fucks it up. syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2919681-inside-the-botched-sign-and-trade-that-could-send-giannis-antetokounmpo-packing.amp.html

Nate Robinson should have stuck with basketball. Jake Paul a half-assed part-time boxer just laid Robinson out like a sack of potatoes on the undercard of Tyson versus Jones.

Honestly crazy how quickly Russell Westbrook went from league MVP to total contract albatross. Rockets just traded him to Wizards for John Wall and a 1st round pick. If Rockets get a high pick out of it and John Wall proves he's healthy I guess maybe it might work out. But if there's a bunch of lottery protections on it and Wall never gets back to full health, seems like a pretty bad trade.
I guess one reason I don't like the deal from Raptors' perspective: if Wizards are willing to trade away picks now and getting Westbrook helps nudge them around .500/treadmill team, then they'll probably stay committed to keeping Bradley Beal rather than trading him away and tanking. And that gives us one less player we could potentially trade for with our open cap space going into next year.
Edit: so the pick is 2023, lottery protected. Stupid trade for the Rockets. I know Westbrook is a bad fit, but Wall presents the exact same problems in terms of floor spacing and terrible contract, with greater injury risk. And that pick won't be worth anything unless the protections eventually wear off and they get a high pick in 2025 or 2026 or whatever.
