https://www.reddit.com/r/torontoraptors/comments/u2hkqj/he_gets_my_vote_if_i_had_one_by_hobbs/ I think Scottie will win it. He and Mobley have extremely similar stats and the main reason Mobley seemed to be considered front-runner was because he was a key starter on what looked like a playoff team, but obviously Raptors overtook Cavs by the end of the season. I'm just happy as long as Cunningham doesn't win it because his stats are super inefficient and the team tried to force feed touches even if it didn't lead to winning basketball. He might still end up being a superstar in this league but the numbers remind me of Michael Carter-Williams' rookie year.

If you look at the link from the final post on the last page, Scottie continues to lead with quite a few votes in hand.

Awesome! My bank account thanks him. Next up I'd like Luis Robert to win AL MVP at 19 to 1 please and thank you just realized that link has a bunch of second and third place votes not listed that mostly include Mobley so he had a bunch of points not counted. Basically they are closer than its actually showing right now. EDIT: The athletic staff just listed their votes and it's basically 4 added first place votes for Mobley and none for Scottie since the 2 that voted for him already counted. Scottie might be behind now.

Looks like it might be an exact tie right now between Mobley and Scottie.

Nice. No disrespect to Mobley though. I'd be thrilled to have him developing as our next centre. If he had won I wouldn't be complaining. Barnes however has a chance to be a high profile player. One of those guys that the NBA like to put on the front page. Christmas games, prime time TV, etc.

Absolutely agree, let's not forget the Raptors were trying to trade up to get Mobley because they thought he could fit into this long lineup. I'm sure he would have been fantastic here too.
Can't say I'm upset we don't have Mobley though, he might be a better fit but for those reasons you said I just love Scotties character.

Rookie of the Year … and the only rookie still playing and making a difference at this point in the year.

Scottie is the most complete player they have drafted in a long while, maybe ever. There is no question he will improve as he matures and should be a key part of the team foundation going forward.

Has anyone seen any projections of what we might expect from Scottie next year? Think he might crack 20 points/game? Or is there some other area we might see significant progress?
... I'm assuming he's not going to be playing in the Summer League. But I haven't heard anything definitive.

I'm guessing mine was the scumbag one, as I was reading I kept thinking why does the star Tribune have access to multiple talks to Scotties trainer?

I just came across Scottie's shot chart for last year. As you'd expect, it's mostly red, as he wasn't a great shooter. But I still find it interesting. Will be interesting to see how he improves next season.

So a recent article suggested that this year might see Barnes get a lot of run at PG. From a depth chart perspective his makes a lot of sense and I think it makes more sense than putting too much weight on Delano or whomever.

I think so too, he showed out well enough in the playoffs last year at that spot and i imagine made it part of his off season plans.

Lots of stuff in the news about Scottie’s potential for the year ahead and what that means for the team. “Positionless” was heard a lot during media day. So here’s my cynical take on Scottie: At some point in his career — there will be attempts at letting Scottie run the offense like a point guard this year and they will be underwhelming. It’s really not Scottie’s biggest strength. Scottie is, however, huge. He’s strong and had great court vision. I think he should be playing with the ball in the high post, where he can continually put pressure on the basket and force the defense to react, and when they do, then he can use his passing skills and take the opposition apart.
But I fear we’re in store for some “meh” Scottie this season, with him being passive and operating too far from the basket. I just hope people realize that’s a mistake and change the focus before too much time passes.
Toronto has a lot of excellent pieces … but we really need someone to put more pressure on the other team, force them into making difficult decisions … someone who can impose his will on the game. That, imho, is what Scottie can be and what he should be aiming for.

Im not worried about Scottie this season. I think he'll be pretty great. Maybe not a world beater but I think he'll keep doing what he's great at and add a wrinkle or two.
