With his stifling defense he could be SB-D.

A lot of respect for David Thorpe and just now enthused he is of Scottie, how much he talks about his character and charisma being something that drives the team forward, I have a very good feeling about getting Scottie.
Side note, OKC was apparently trying to trade with us so they could get Scottie at 4. I get the feeling Orlando wanted him too. I don't think he got a chance to work out for Cleveland but I wonder if he would have kept climbing if he only for a chance to work out for them too. Probably too far, since they were getting Mobley, just send like everyone fell in love with him if you got him in.
Side funny note. Michael Grange said the Raps were locked in on Suggs for their pick and then when he heard they were trying to trade up he doubled down by saying they are trying to trade up to make sure they get Suggs. Poor Grange.

Apparently Suggs had a bad workout for The Raps too. Thank God he did! I'm flying high on Scottie now!

www.si.com/nba/raptors/news/toronto-raptors-draft-pick-scottie-barnes-shot-imporvingIf any organization is going to get Barnes to that point it's the Raptors. That's why those around Barnes were so excited by the selection. This had been their hope since the lottery first came out, Macon said. When the Raptors moved up from No. 7 to No. 4 at the NBA Lottery, Macon said he and Barnes circled Toronto as the ideal landing spot. "They're so good at developing like these long, athletic guards, I mean positionless players like Siakam and OG," Macon said. "He also knew how good they are at developing talent ... and we knew if he could just show who he is he'd have an amazing chance at No. 4."

Man, our Free agencies are always underwhelming at best. I like the roster and we seem not to have any bad contracts though.
Intriguing philosophy to go with lots of lanky switchable athletes on defense. Need Pascal to be a Superstar and FVV and OG to becomes stars and get at least acceptable play from the center position. Let's go.

Look at the draft video. Remember how we all saw Suggs before Barnes, ya that's because they pointed literally every camera at Suggs. streamable.com/nwygqgThey have 4 cameras all right beside Suggs and Barnes and not one even gives a chance at Barnes. Hilariously good planning there.

Thorpe - "Pat Williams is a Kawhi Leonard Clone"
Well that's a hot take. I'll definitely be focusing my eyes on that guy this season.

It seems like everything I hear about this kid makes me more and more enthusiastic about him.

It seems like everything I hear about this kid makes me more and more enthusiastic about him. I agree entirely, everything about this kid is positive. Even just that video above of Cade and Suggs saying Scottie is always positive and uplifting is fantastic. The fact his shot improved already so much from draft to now and he's already working on any changes the Raps wanted in mechanics. It's not exactly fair for him but his work ethic makes me almost expect that by the start of the year he will have a passable 3pt. Can't wait to watch him next to OG and later Siakam just confounding teams trying to score.

Can't wait to watch him next to OG and later Siakam just confounding teams trying to score. I might be experiencing selection bias, but I think the scientific tools for teaching shooting have gotten to the point where if the coordination, work ethic, and quality training staff are already there a quality shot is all but guaranteed. And Scottie and the Raps tick all the boxes. I'd be amazed if he isn't a knockdown midrange shooter and decent 3pt shooter by his 3rd or 4th year. The question is if he develops the ability to create his own shot off the dribble. Because I think this is a very well constructed roster, but we're still missing that one hombre. And if Scottie or Pascal don't develop into that it would be tough to acquire someone like that via trade/FA.

^^According to Thorpe, Scottie's giant hands and fingers make it more difficult for him to get that consistency you want in a shooter. It's obviously not impossible (e.g. Kawhi) but it could be an obstacle for him.

It's obviously not impossible (e.g. Kawhi) but it could be an obstacle for him. Ya he goes into it in some detail, but the long fingers get in each others way. He goes into it with Giannis and that he got worse shooting because he grew and his hands likely grew too and it causes you to make a weird arm angles to try to work around it. Not impossible to get good at it you just need a lot of focus and practice. I have no doubt Scottie has that already.

This sounds like it may be Barnes who replaces Siakam as a starter to begin the season instead of Boucher. Not sure I entirely agree because I think Bouchers 3 point shot is needed however its not a bad idea. Boucher's scoring off the bench is still important. Bench scoring may be an issue this year.

Pascal at media day he was asked about Scottie and he tells laughing about how happy and how much energy he has, that he was just walking down the hall and Scottie wanted to to a jump bodycheck like someone hit a game winner.
Then Dragic on Scottie:
He's going to be a fan favorite real quick.

After hearing that story and seeing the clips of him pre-game I'm convinced Scottie is part Labrador.
