What's the last TV show you watched?
Any good?
Back in February I checked out Vikings. I thought it wasn't great, that it was missing something, something was off. Yet I watched episode 2, then 3, then 4 and finally 5 all in one day.
I slowed down but kept watching.
And here I am now about to finish the series.
It's still not great and it peaked in seasons 2-3... but you know what, it was a good binge.

I'm *loving* the wrestling documentaries that have been coming fast and furious of late. A&E on Sunday's at 8pm (they replay the prior week at 6pm) are awesome. Tomorrow at 8pm is Booker T, 6pm is Randy Savage which was last week (they previously did Steve Austin and Roddy Piper). The Dark Side of the Ring is on Viceland on Thursday's at 9. This week following that at 10pm is The Dark Side of Football (the previews look like Roger Goodell will not be happy, to say the least. The crush the culture of pills, coaches that treat players like trash etc. LOADS of former NFLers go on the record).

I watched Ian Curtis new documentary Can't Get Your Out My Head. Other than being disappointed that Kylie Minogue was never actually played, I thought it was great. It made me realize how society has been formed and what still often brings us together are our very worst, if not outright evil instincts. The resultant problems in the world are the inability and unwillingness to reconcile that, but that would mean pivotal, actual change. Or, any empathy to the oppressed from the privileged leads to understand that if the roles were reversed, they'd rightfully respond with violence. Hence all the fear about immigrants (basically a distraction/missing the real point) and such.
It was pretty uncomfortable to watch at times, like a Lars von Trier film.

I watched both Invincible and Shadow and Bone recently. SaB was pretty good, and Invincible was friggin' awesome.

I'm in season 3 of Startup and am loving it. It's like the gangsta version of Silicone Valley (which is hilarious!).

Rewatching Peaky Blinders.
Absolutely one of the best shows out there. Full recommend.

I've been watching a lot more TV than usual lately; recently had a baby and when she was still in newborn stage she didn't want to be put down but would sleep as long as one of us was holding her, so we were binge watching a lot of TV at 2 a.m. She's starting to get into a more regular sleep schedule though so haven't been watching as much. I started watching Vikings about a month or two ago. I didn't check it out in the past because I assumed it was just trying to be a cheap Game of Thrones knock off, but I like it a lot so far. The fight choreography is generally really well done and shot coherently, rather than just waving a shaky cam around. I'm partway through the 3rd season. Finally watched both seasons of The Boys. Homelander might be one of my favourite all-time villains. I finally watched the first season of Ted Lasso, wasn't sure what to expect but I love it. It's weird because if someone recommended a fairly gentle, sentimental comedy I'd think that doesn't sound like my kind of thing, but I thought it was incredibly well done. My wife and I also watched all of Cobra Kai. I liked it overall. It keeps going back and forth between sort of fun and self-aware at how ridiculous the premise it is, and just legitimately dumb and wasting your time, so I don't know if I would've bothered to watch through it alone. But it was fun to watch with someone else who could laugh along at the cheesy parts and high five whenever someone gets kicked in the face.

Crushed Ted Lasso this weekend with my kids and LOVED it. I hope they don't start saying twat on the regular, but worth it.

one of the best shows on TV if you come from a superhero fan background. Give Invincible a shot as well, not the same as the boys but a slight change in classic super hero stuff. Adult cartoon type.

I binged all 7 seasons of Burn Notice recently, it was just as good as I remember. Not Peaky Blinders good maybe, but very watchable, especially if you're a fan of spy stuff. In the same vein, I watched one of the first ever spy shows, a show called The Sandbaggers from the early 80's done in England. It's fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone. I also recently rewatched Penny Dreadful, mostly because of an RPG campaign, and that is also a great show. Right now I'm on an 80's kick and working my way through McGyver and Murder, She Wrote. I spent two weeks in an isolation hotel recently, so I had a lot of TV watching time on my hands.

You know the board is officially dead when we're talking about Murder, She Wrote It's not quite what it seems. An RPG I'm hacking called Brindlewood Bay is situated very much the genre of 80's mystery shows with meddling amateur sleuths, and MSR is my favorite exemplar of the genre. So there's that.
