Whether the team keeps Kawhi or not, the Raps are poised to make a big run 2 seasons from now. Lowry, Ibaka and JV (depending on his PO this season). Also FVV and Miles. We should be in good position to transition on the fly in a WORST case scenario. Lots of expiring contracts and lots of opportunity to make some magic work for Masai. Now, this thread is useless because Kawhi and Green will sign and we continue to kick butt hey, chat away. hoopshype.com/salaries/toronto_raptors/

They will have to convince someone to sign. If no one does it could be an opportunity to trade for a Canadian. Wiggins gets some bad press but he's still young and talented. I'd take him for his prime years if he could be had cheap. I think he still might have another gear and his prime years 26-30 could be worth it.

Wiggins?

But to actually add something to the discussion...
Why not Wiggins?
FTA/36 2014 - 5.7 2015 - 7.1 2016 - 6.4 2017 - 3.8 2018 - 2.5
TS% 2014 - 0.517 2015 - 0.543 2016 - 0.534 2017 - 0.505 2018 - 0.465
Declining free throw attempts + declining true shooting percentage suggests to me that he's basically the anti-Lowry. Or even the anti-DeRozan. Meaning he seems utterly uninterested in improving his game. If there's any criterion that suggests Wiggins is improving at all, I don't see it.

Yeah, I want no part of Wiggins at all thanks. The epitome of empty stats. He's not even really a good shooter and that's his thing. Yeesh. There's nothing about his peripheral production that I like either. Nope, no thanks.

By the looks of it two of the best free agents available will be Lowry and Ibaka. Siakam will be due for a big pay raise.
Toronto Raptors 2020:
C Gasol PF Bosh SF Anthony SG Wade PG Iverson
All should be available in 2020.

Ya I've given up on the Wiggins dream of the Toronto based player leading a toronto based team. Wiggins is barely even Canadian with his refusal to do anything for team Canada national team. I don't see why he should get those honors, especially as you guys pointed out he is only likely to disappoint.

Fans give up on players too soon. Wiggins Is only 23 and who said anything about him leading a team? He can be a good player on any team. I'd take any talented player for his prime years as long as he isn't a head case. He regressed badly being around Butler and I think Thibodeau trying to reconstruct the corpse of his Bulls teams has been bad for both Wiggins and Towns. I'd love to get Wiggins out of there if he could be had for spare parts.

Ok. I'll allow myself to be convinced if you can manage it. What is it about Wiggins' game that makes him someone the Raps would want? He's an offense first player who's offense is meh. He isn't a great defender. And he makes a ton of money. Change my mind.

Note that I said if no one else signs with the Raps when we have all that cap space. You can't sit on it. You have to start looking around for what might be available. Masai will go looking for a Canadian. He has stated it is a goal of his. I'm just stating a case for what might happen, not what will lead the team to a championship.

I’m very late to this discussion but Wiggins is not even a poor man’s DeRozan...he’s Hobo-DeRozan. At this stage in his development he’s like an extremely passive Corey Maggette who doesn’t actually get to the line or rebound, and has all the other flaws like super streaky unreliable shot, bad D, doesn’t pass or set up teammates etc.

Why are we still talking about Wiggins? Maybe we should be talking about players we actually want. Just a thought. As an aside, Boucher is looking awfully goof for the 905's. That could be a help with the cap situation at some point.

Saw Chris Boucher play for the 905 on the weekend. Very dominant at times against his G-league opponents at times. I appreciate it's a different world, but I can see why the Raps want to keep tabs on him.

I don't think it needs a hyphen. Hobodero is awesome as is.

The Ringer just did an article on Wiggins called Fallen Maple Leaf which is a great title. Out of curiosity I checked his numbers from this season. He's a horridly low 95 Off Eff and a below team average 112 Def (team avg is 110). This is a max player and it might be turning out to be one of the worst contracts in the league looking the way it is looking. No chance we should get HoboDero. Taken from the article above, watch this video that sums up Wiggins very well in one play: Note the level of excitement of the team getting up watching him go to the rim uncontested, followed quickly by the amount of effort that Wiggins was willing to put in as he went slower and slower to the net, followed by a completely uninspiring dunk which left the bench to throw their hands up and shrug their shoulders in confusion. That is Wiggins, full of potential to show great things, but with no effort behind it.

On a lighter note, apparently odds makers have Toronto as one of the most likely landing spots for Beal should he be traded. Now there's a guy I'm actually interested in. The ask might be Siakam, which I wouldn't do, but pretty much anything outside that would be fine. Val comes to mind, as the Wiz need a C and Grunwald loves him some veteran players. Val and OG? I'd do that.
