What a... bad, bad season this was. Take a peak at this roster: www.basketball-reference.com/teams/TOR/2011.htmlDid you remember we had Peja Stojakovic for 2 games? A guy named Sundiata Gaines? Solomon Alabi? Joey Dorsey started 9 games. Linas Kleiza was supposed to be the answer to our SF problems. Andrea Bargnani was the leader in pts/game.

The best thing about that season was Ed Davis. And he'd look amazing on our bench right about now.

Wasn't that the season the Boris kept insisting Jarryd Bayless was was a secret advanced-stats all-star? Top PER: Amir Johnson! Good times~ You know what's really sad? As bad as our defense was that season (DRat 112.8, or 16th-worse all time), it was still better than our defense the season before (113.2, or 10th-worst all time). Even more strange? That's 2009 team with the super-terrible defense actually had a decent W/L record, 0.488. That's the 2nd-best of worst 20 defensive teams of all time. Here, if you care to torture yourself.

The next season, before Masai took over just illustates what a dumpster fire the team was. Just look at that roster. Wasn't that the season the Boris kept insisting Jarryd Bayless was was a secret advanced-stats all-star? So was I. It was more that whenever he started he played well. During that time, we were starting Calderon and were in limbo. So... There was enough to see that something was there, so why not just increase the sample size and really throw him into the fire. But then he got injured and we traded for Lowry anyway.

Colangelo’s year end presser drove me insane that year. For some reason he brought up Garbajosa’s 2007 leg injury again as an excuse saying they were still trying to find a way to replace him, even though he’d been gone for two full seasons at that point. His other excuse was the Reggie Evans injury. Evans had been starting early in the year and getting some rebounds, but just playing abysmal offence, under 41% and like 4 points a game. But to hear BC describe it losing Evans derailed the season, like they were missing prime Ewing.
