No idea if we have enough internet to warrant a thread on this … but the national team has a lot of talent now, so why not…
And now, Nurse is out as the team coach. And, funnily enough, Jordi Fernandez is in (the Sacramento assistant who was supposed to be in the running for the Raptors job). He seems like a smart guy. Will be interesting to see if he can get some traction with the Canadian team and help them fulfill their potential.

For the rest of the interest on this one, sounds like Philly made him leave the position due to time constraints.
Weird other rumor that followed is some players who were avoiding team Canada because of him are reconsidering joining now. No idea who that might be but anyways.

Canada dominating France in the opening game of the FIBA World Cup. SGA outscored France by himself in the 3rd quarter, 13-8. SGA with 27 points, after missing his first 5 shots. So damn impressive.

Another dominant game by team Canada, throttling Lebanon 128-73. That's a point differential of 85 in just two games! Plus they set a FIBA record 43 assists in the Lebanon game. All very sweet...

60% from three! At one point the score was 110 to 50. Woah!
Trivia: Team Canada boasts one of my favorite near-raptors, Phillip Scrubb. In addition to having the best basketball name ever, he is a Canadian legend in the the CIS.

Did Boucher not get the call for Canada?

Enjoying the Rondae Hollis-Jefferson morphing into Kobe thing for Jordan... Wait, he played for the Raptors in 2019?! I so don't remember that...

Y'know, Bruno does have some game in him.
Masai wasn't entirely wrong there.. maybe the timeline needed a few extra years but he ain't bad.

Canada beat Spain.
That was a big surprise. Gritty win, watched highlights, even Brooks was ok..

Finally caught the Canada-Spain game. Wow, that was a squeaker. Is Dillon Brooks destined to become the next Jimmy Butler? And I was a bit disappointed Jordi Fernandez didn't kiss SGA on the lips (a la the coach of the Spanish women's soccer team).
Not Canada-related, but who lit the fire under Schroeder? If the FIBA Schroeder shows up in October, I'll be quite pleased.

There's a kid born in 2006 playing for South Sudan in the tourny... TIL. Wow.

Also, double posting but that story of the Serbian player needing emergency surgery to remove his kidney after getting hit there... I have never heard of such a thing. That is terrifying.

SGA with 31 points on TWELVE shots. Pretty amazing. Team Canada heads to the semi-finals.

Canada-USA for the bronze is in overtime now. SGA and Brooks killing it, shooting really well.
I so don’t understand the Anthony Edwards fixation so many pundits seem to have. He seems like a great example of good-guy-on-a-bad-team.

Canada beating USA for bronze is a big moment.
Amazing to see. If Shai keeps this up at the international level, he might be viewed as the best Canadian ever (Over Nash, imo).
