He needs his own thread too!
I really just wanted to share The Void's video on him that i just watched as it shows we're probably aren't appreciating him enough at this point (and we appreciate him quite a bit).

Dan Devine from The Ringer is voting for the all star starters as part of the media vote and he has put FVV on as one of the starters:
He effectively had it down to Trae vs FVV and when you consider defense it honestly seems like an easy choice as shown here. He'll likely not beat out Trae for start because he was so far behind on the fan vote that makes up 50% of the vote but he'll hopefully be 3rd in guards there for a moral victory.

Fred VanVleet is an NBA all-star. Crazy story. 4th undrafted player in the modern era to ever make the all Star game.

Bye-bye FVV. It was a fun ride. But it wasn't US$43million/year fun.
Classy dude, though.

Good for FVV. Great story from Wichita State to undrafted to where he is now. Nothing wrong with taking the best pay! He already has a ring, so it's OK if he is already in a mentor role at 29.
It just didn't fit with what the Raptors were trying to do anyway. So I think it's best for both sides.

FVV was a Lowry type of player, good hands, took what the D gave him, great BBIQ. What's that worth? To the right team- a lot. FVV needs a couple of guys he can feed and when the time is right take over the game. He would have been a great team mate for Lowry and DD with JV and Poeltl. So the team build for a future winner and perennial challenger was right on track. Leonard gave them the championship but it was lightning in a bottle, precisely my disagreement at the time with the move. But since a championship is the objective it's hard to argue with the sacrifice of a potential winner for a real winner even if it is only one year. I for one would have loved to see that team play out after watching it build over the years but it is what it is. Having said all of that this team is now blowing it up whether the fans realize it or not. Nurse is a brilliant coach, FVV was an integral part of the team, but this team is lacking horsepower and Barnes alone is not the answer and they really have no other pieces to make the difference. Starting to remind me of past Raptor teams as the good players and coaches are dealt away or allowed to leave. This is a team in decline. Reading fan comments on other platforms once again I have to congratulate this board for keeping it real. For thoughtful analysis, accurate assessments, and overall BBIQ the guys here are head and shoulders above the noise.
