“Yeah, bad loss”
“Oh my god, they’re making a comeback! They’ve tied it!”
“Overtime!”

Still 5 games ahead in wins seems pretty insurmountable.

Being down 15 points by halftime in every game isn't the way to win many games. I don't like bad habits. It makes me question coaching. That being said they were without Barrett who seems their be their best quick starter.

Still 5 games ahead in wins seems pretty insurmountable. Giving up the 7th pick, the worst case outcome of this trade is quite feasible. What a mess. That pick will probably become Wemby's Jamal Murray somehow.
But they weren't good with Barnes. Without him and other players sitting out here and there, they are terrible. Even then, to move up from 6th would take deliberate tanking people - kinda of strawman when talking about tanking and not to do it, basically.

it's going to end up being a close battle with Memphis for 6th best odds which leaves at basically 50 50 to keep the pick. Then we have the existential crisis of keeping the pick this year then hoping to be a bottom 5 pick next year? Or lose the pick next year because we're better than bottom 5 next year... Which they also means the pick we keep next year is worse than this year, so then where does that fall on the scale of value vs a top 6 pick this year?

I'm totally prepared to win the lottery this year and see Indiana continue to play uninspired ball (maybe helped with some injuries) ... and in the end, we get the Nos. 2, 15 and 32 picks. That would make me laugh.
... And, of course, the No. 32 pick would end up being the best one, while the No. 2 is a total dud.
Anyhow, until we get a legitimate 25+ points/game player, we're going to be stuck at mediocrity. And getting those kinds of players is such a crapshoot. You just never know.
